Why Solar Ventilation
Why Ipswich & Toowoomba Homeowners Choose Solar Roof Ventilation
Up to 30°C Cooler Roof Cavity
A solar ventilator continuously pumps superheated air out of your roof space all day long — reducing temperature inside your home and putting less strain on your air conditioning.
Zero Running Costs, Ever
100% solar powered. No wiring, no switchboard, no electrician required. Nothing added to your electricity bill — the sun does all the work from sunrise to sunset.
Healthier Air Inside Your Home
Constant extraction reduces moisture buildup and mould spores in your roof cavity — improving air quality throughout your home, especially important in Queensland's humid climate.
Whisper-Quiet Brushless Motor
Unlike traditional whirlybirds that rattle, squeak and seize, SolarArk units run on brushless DC motor technology that you'll never hear from inside your home.
Residential Range
The Right Ventilator for Your Roof
We install the full SolarArk residential range. Not sure which model suits your home? We'll assess your roof and recommend the right unit — free, no obligation.

Whirlybird Alternative
Solar Ventilation vs. Traditional Whirlybirds
Traditional whirlybirds are passive wind vents — they only spin when the wind blows. On a still, hot Queensland day, they stop completely. SolarArk solar ventilators use free energy from the sun to actively extract heat all day, every day.
| Feature | Traditional Whirlybird | SolarArk Ventilator |
|---|---|---|
| Power source | ✗Wind only — does nothing on calm days | ✓Solar powered — works whenever the sun is out |
| Airflow | ~100 m³/hr on a windy day | 1,112–3,150 m³/hr, continuously |
| Hot still days | ✗Stops completely | ✓Full performance all day |
| Noise | ✗Can rattle, squeak and seize | ✓Whisper-quiet brushless DC motor |
| Vermin seal | ✗Open throat — pests can enter | ✓Fully sealed and vermin proof |
| Control | ✗None | ✓Adjustable digital thermostat |
| Running cost | $0 — but only when it's windy | $0 — with full performance every sunny day |

Frequently Asked Questions
How much cooler will my home actually get?
SolarArk ventilators reduce roof-cavity temperatures by up to 30°C and living-room temperatures by up to 6°C. The effect on your home depends on your insulation, roof size and local climate — but customers across Queensland consistently report a noticeably cooler home and reduced air-conditioning use.
Do solar roof ventilators work on hot still days — when whirlybirds stop?
Yes — that’s the core advantage. Traditional whirlybirds rely on wind and stop the moment the air goes still. SolarArk units run on solar power, so they perform at their best on hot, sunny, still days — exactly when you need them most.
Do they cost anything to run?
Nothing. The entire range is 100% solar powered with no wiring required. There’s nothing on your power bill, ever. The only cost is the unit and installation.
My roof doesn't face north — will they still work?
Yes. The SAV-10T, SAV-20T models have a directional tilt panel that can be adjusted to face the sun regardless of your roof’s orientation. We’ll recommend the right model for your property when we assess the roof.
Can they replace my existing whirlybirds?
Yes. A single SAV-20 replaces multiple traditional whirlybirds and actively extracts far more air, even on calm days. We can install a solar ventilator to replace your existing whirlybirds or supplement them.
Are they noisy?
SolarArk units run on brushless DC motor technology — the same kind used in premium appliances and electric vehicles. From inside the home, you will not hear them running.
Are they vermin proof?
Yes. Unlike open-throat whirlybirds that provide an entry point for birds, possums and rodents, SolarArk units are fully sealed and vermin proof.
How long does installation take?
Most residential installations are completed in 2–3 hours. No electrician is required, as the units are fully solar powered. Our team handles the full installation and cleans up on the day
